Welcome to virtual learning at Blyth Academy! Please read below for the expectations required of you while attending class online.

  • You are expected to be present for the entirety of the time your class is allocated for.

  • Stay on the Zoom screen during virtual class time. Each student’s activity level will be monitored through Zoom and reviewed by your teacher for participation.

  • Make sure you are muted when you should not be talking.

  • Ensure your video is on at all times.

    • Exceptions need to be communicated directly with the teacher.

    • If you need to go to the washroom, the same rules apply as a regular classroom.

  • Be yourself and respect others. Always use appropriate language.

  • Any background screen must be appropriate. Do not change screens throughout the class as this is distracting.

  • Set up an intentional space where the class is going to happen, ideally not your bedroom. You must be prepared for class, appropriately dressed (not in pajamas) and ready to learn.

  • Plan your breaks in advance. Use your break to go to the washroom or grab a snack.

    • Non-academic activities should not be done during your virtual classroom time.

  • Think before you write in chat rooms.

Happy learning! We cannot wait to get together again for in-person classes.
