The Smith School of Business at Queen's University, formerly known as the Queen's University Business School, is located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It is a world-class Business School and one of the best in Canada. The Smith School of Business at Queen's University is the oldest business school in Canada. The School opened Canada's first undergraduate business program in 1919 and established an independent business School in 1963 under the leadership of Lawrence MacPherson, the first dean. The mission of the Business School is to develop outstanding leaders with a global perspective and create new knowledge that advances business and society.

Different from HBA, BBA and other schools in Canada, Smith School of Business awards students the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), emphasizing a comprehensive business education based on teaching and supported by case studies and practice. The curriculum structure consists of 20 compulsory core business courses in the first two years and advanced elective courses in the second two years, aiming to cultivate diversified business talents suitable for the complex business environment. In the third year, the school offers international exchange to students to develop a global perspective, thus deepening their understanding of the professional field and forming three-dimensional thinking. Due to the school's independence and quality, Smith's programmes are taught in small classes, with an emphasis on interaction and participation with other students and professors. At the same time, Goodes Hall integrates the original building and modern facilities. The unique sense of impact provides a good environment for students, cultivates students' deep sense of cohesion and honor, and forms a unique alumni mutual assistance culture. In addition, the school offers dual degree programs for students. Students can choose between a business school degree and a major in the College of Arts and Sciences, or a JD program.

Exchange program

Smith offers exchange opportunities to 100% of its students, with around 90% choosing to study abroad in their third or fourth year on an international exchange programme. [5] It collaborates with more than 100 schools in 37 different countries, including HEC Paris in France, Cass School of Business in the UK, University of Mannheim in Germany, Bocconi Univesity in Italy, IE Business School in Spain, etc.

Employment

Smith graduates are recognized by many business people in the United States and Canada for their outstanding undergraduate education. In 2018, more than 98% of business school graduates found a job within six months of graduation, topping all undergraduate business schools in Canada, with an average starting salary of C $61,583. Meanwhile, Queen's Business School is ranked first in helping students find jobs in investment banking and marketing, and second in finance, in the 2015 Canadian University Job Search Report published by LinkedIn.
